Camp Rumbug was a great experience. I had lots of fun there. It is in a type of a rainforest. You can see great views from there. We drove up a long, dusty road and there it was. It looked like a small school. When you walked in the main entrance there were shoe racks. We went through big doors and there was a long corridor with doors along the walls. They gave us our cabins and mine was number 16. It was really big and it had 14 beds in there. There were only twelve of us.I did a lot of fun activities at Rumbug. We did ten. My two favourite activities were the scare bear, which was a giant swing, and canoeing. In canoeing my partner was Olivia. We nearly fell out of the canoe into the water. It was really funny. We also did a fun and fitness course. The food at camp wasn’t the best but it was alright. On the first day we had roast lamb for dinner. Through the days we also had lasagna, pancakes and eggs. On the last night, after the night walk through the bush, we toasted marshmallows over a fire. They were really yummy.I met lots of new people and made lots of new friends. Some of the mew people I met were, Katelyn, Damien, Taylor, Chiara and Luca.Camp was a great experience and I can’t wait until next year at Camp Cavehill.

When i arrived at school on wednesday i was excited and nervous, i could see everyones luggage. After around 10-15 we had most of luggage on the bus ready to go there was a big bus and a small bus all the luggage went on the big bus. When we were leaving the school everyine was waving goodbye and then we were on our way to camp Rumbug. When we close to arriving we first had to go up a hill a big one, it was big, thin and bumpy. When we finally got there we had to take all the bags inside along the wall. The man had a talk to us and gave us instructions. We had to eat our lunch first. We then got our pillows went to our cabbins and got our beds set up. After that we started our very first activity. You have to were 3 layers of clothing so you dont get cold or sick. All the activities are really good, these are some of the activities: Archery, Scarebear, jailbreak, Abseilling and canoeing there all great fun and worth doing but my personal favourites would have to be Scarebear and Archery Scarebear is a massive swing that goes so fast you feel like your going to explode, Archery was great it took me a while to get use to it though. At night you do night activities with your torches and you get to cook marshmallows and eat them :). Everynight you get a ok dinner. And you always get supper milo and cake. The last night is the disco you and some friends have to make up an act and present it to everyone you practice at school. There is songs and dancing after all the acts it is great fun. Camp Rumbug was the best camp ever and i would like to do it again

Today is the first day of camp and I was so nervous. We were on the bus and moving. I was sitting next to my friend and we were talking to each other, then we stopped at a park to eat our playlunch. Everyone was playing on the skate park. Oh, time to go. We jumped on the bus and left.
This time we didn't stop we continued all the way. After a while we all saw a sign that said Camp Rumbug >. Everyone started cheering Yay and Whooho.
We took a long and dusty path that seemed to go on forever and ever.
Finally we made it. There were children everywhere. We had to unload the bus and get inside.
We were all told to head to the rec room so we could get our cabin rooms. Yay! Once that was done we got changed and went outside
We did a very muddy course first and then got into our groups. Then we did some mor activites and then had lunch
The food was nice. I liked it. Especially the Breakfast and Lunch. The lasgna wasn't very nice.
Camp was the best experience I've ever had. I really enjoyed it.

I was really nervous about coming to camp. I had heard that it was alot muddier and dirtier than cave-hill creek, which was the camp we went to last year. The bus trip took a really long time, we stopped at a playground/Skate park to have our play-lunch. We stayed there for a while but then left and arrived at camp around fifteen minutes later! A guy called matt welcomed us to camp Rumbug and he showed us to our cabins. I was whith Matt.C, Aidan, Simeon,Ben, Joel, Julian, Shane and Adrian. My favourite activity was the scare bear because it was really fun and scary, but you get used to it after the 1st or 2nd swing. Abseiling was my second favourite task, it was REALLY SCARY. The food at camp Rumbug was really good! We had lamb and Lasagne, along whith alot of other food for dessert. The messiest activitiy was the Fun and Fitness trail. Night-time in our cabin was SO fun, but we didn't get much sleep. I thought camp came and went really quickly, because the next thing we knew we were on the bus heading for home. We arrived home in around 2 hours.

Hi my name is Samantha C and I am here to talk about my experience at camp rumbug.

On wednesday the 27th of august, grade 5/6 went to camp rumbug. As we set off on the busride not knowing what was in stall, I was smiling with excitment. When we arrived at camp Rumbug after the long bus ride they told us we were to get into the first activity. I was shocked when they said that because we had just gotten off the bus. We arrived at the first activity and Matt told us that we were to be partnered up with a boy. I partnerd up with matthew and we were first to set off onto the course, also know as the " Mud pit". It was gross. There was also a pool of wet mud with planks of wood on top of it. We had to go under those planks. My front was covered in stinky, disgusting mud. My shoes were caramel brown. It was mess. One of the best activities though.

My favourite activity was the scarebear. Why? because of a giant swing, but better. I felt so scared before hand but when i started swinging I was just haviong fun.

I think camp was the most fun I've had in ages.

If I could go back in time to the moment we left for camp I would. Camp was not like last year because there were more survival activities than cave hill. This year I have experienced more than I did at cave hill creek. At Rumbug we got wet and we got muddy which was really fun but really annoying at the same time. I would have to say my favourite activities were the scare bear and conoeing. Camp might not be the holiday you are looking for but it is still worth it because you can still have fun. The hardest part about camp was probably getting to sleep, because everyone was so exited about all the activities the next day, that they couldn't get to sleep. We had many activities to complete and by the end everyone was exhausted. Friday morning was frantic everyone was running around gathering all of their belongings to pack, but finally we were packed and on the bus after our final two activities.

Camp Rumbug

When we got to to camp I couldn't wait to go in the cabins. My first activity was the Drawbridge course I fell off the wood and I got soaked. At night I had so many lollies that I felt sick. My favourite activity was the Scare Bear. When I was in the air I felt terrified but I finally did it.

In the canoeing I almost fell off the boat. We had a ball in the water to throw. Archery was the easiest. I almost got it in the red but it was very hard to control the bow and the stick. On the last day in the morning, the pancakes were very nice so I had seconds.

For lunch we had hot dogs. They were yummy. After lunch we had a piece of cake and an icy pole. On the way back in the bus we watched a movie called Evan Almighty.

I loved camp. It was a great experience.

If I could put camp Rumbug into one word I would have to say it was awesome. Camp was one of the best experiences I have ever had. When we started our first activity, everyone was in it together. It was called the fun and fitness trial. The girls were partnered with the boys. It was SO muddy. When we started our group activities my group was on the adventure bridge ,it was also really muddy. We went back, had a shower then had dinner and we went to bed. The next morning we had breakfast and got ready for our activities for the day. We had seven activities that day, but my favourites were the scare bear and abseiling. They were the best. We went for lunch and kept going on with our other activities. When we finished all the activities we had showers, then dinner and went to bed. The next morning my cabin woke up a bit earlier so we could pack to go home. We had breakfast then got ready for our final two activities. After that we had lunch, then started to pack the bus to go home. We loaded the bus and set off for home.

Alexander At Camp!!

We were arrivng at camp and i was feeling exited to what awaited me. I Started to feel a little home sick but then relieved from not getting called 1,000 times for fixing things. the first activity we did was the fun and fitness trail where we had to get down and dirty. I Found this activity annoying, tiring and a little fun but not fun, fun. For the next 2 and a half days we did rotations of diffrent activitys. The 1st actual activity we did archery. i found it ok and also funny. Someone got the arrow on a plastic roof. i did really bad the arrow was like 5mm infront of me hahaha. We did 1 more activity which i cant think of but i was soo afraid of the scarebear (i know what a scardy your probably thinking...) and abseiling i thought i was going to be sick if i went on it. The 2nd day we had bacon & eggs or just some jam spreads then off we went to the initiatives course which i found annoying and freaky. The 1st stage WE HAD TO STAND ON A GUYS BACK!!! and getting carried out without touching the wood or the ropes. which would be really hard to do. Before the siren went we went up to the wall which someone else and I didnt feel comfortable doing because one we were afraid and two the siren went. Then dinner we had lamb roast (WHICH WAS FULL OF FAT!!!!) but what choice did i have. The last day we did the last 3 activitys: Drawbridge course, Titanic Raft and canoeing. The Drawbridge course i found hard to cross because I FELL IN and got half drenched and i was humiliated but eventually i passed it. The next activity Titanic raft i found a bit boring because it took FOREVER TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RELAY!!!!. The Last Activity we did was canoeing which i was looking forward to all camp. I Found It Fun and intresting becuase i have never been canoeing before and i wanted to go on as soon as i heard about it. While canoeing there was a game of canoe tiggy with a yellow ball but we got tug like once and also we had a few crashes but it wasnt as bad. Soon as the siren went for the last time we had to pack up but i felt seasick. The last lunch we had at rumbug we had a sausage sizzle (finally something that didnt taste prosessed) and also we had icypoles. Then we had to pack up for the long journey home. The one thing i will miss about rumbug is the canoeing, hanging our with friends and feeling freeand i was looking forward to coming home seeing my parents and brother but theres one thing i wont miss.... wanna take a guess?.... WALKING!!!!!!!! I Wish i could come back to rumbug and canoe again! ^_^

Normally people don’t call me a daredevil and I don’t consider myself one either but this is something only a daredevil would do.....
I have just decided to go abseiling. I know I’m crazy but I will be proud of myself when I’m done!
I’m just climbing the ladder. My legs are shaking and I’m about to change my mind and go back down but I’m nearly at the top. As the lady unhooks me I get a little bit calmer. I’m just sitting in the chair and I start to feel really really nervous again.
Now it’s my turn! The lady is just hooking me to the main rope and now she’s pushing me. Why is she pushing me back? Oh my, its 15 metres high and I have to walk backwards down here! “Someone help me!” are the thoughts in my head! As I walk down my hand has just slipped!
Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhh! BANG! I’ve just fallen about one whole metre and then bashed into the wall. It hurts a lot! The lady is giving me some more instructions and now I’m getting the hang of it. It’s much easier now! As I step on the floor I feel really relieved and happy and I also feel really proud.
I still don’t consider myself a daredevil but that’s only something a daredevil would do!
That’s my story about when I went abseiling!
The camps sounding area! As we drove up the long dusty and wavy road, I look to the side of the bus and see so much beautiful trees that almost form a rain forest and there are so many hills and cliffs’ and when we reach our destination and unload the bus I take a first look at the camp site and take in the camps looks. When we walk inside we go to the rec room. I have a cabin for 14 people. I don’t think any of the food was that good. And basically we had a really cool and fun time!!!
The end!!!!

On Wednesday the 27th of august, grade 5/6 went to camp Rumbug. As we waited for the buses to arrive, we decided what bus we should go on. Of course we chose the small bus. It was a long trip and when we arrived I was too tired to stand. We carried are bags and placed them in the hallway. I wasn’t that scared or nervous, but really excited to do the activities. It was now about 10 minutes later from when we arrived. We were put into groups, i was in group 1! We were taken out to the woods and before we started the activity we had to do a course, while holding hands with a BOY!!!!
After the course was over I could hardly walk. Nearly covered in mud from head to toe. I struggled to walk up the hill, and when I got up there i quickly had a shower. There were two people from camp Rumbug that showed us where all the activities would be held Gav and Peter. Next thing we had to do was the drawbridge course, right now your thinking “Oh that sounds easy” well, YOU’RE WRONG. It was pretty fun but so difficult, some of my team mates fell in the lake. After that day my shoes were covered in mud and dirty water, and my socks were discoloured. That night i couldn’t wait to sleep.
The next few days we did many activities both hard and easy. Also very, very, very muddy. We did things such as the scare bear, archery, abseiling, canoeing, titanic rafts, initiative course, ropes course and that’s it. I like the scare bear because it was awesome! We also had a disco and a camp act where Me, Samantha, Nicola and Olivia danced to 4 minutes. It was the last day and again we went home on the small bus and when we arrived we were all very very tired.

On Wednesday we were going on a bus drive to camp. I was really excited but worried at the same time. I saw my mum and dad waving at me.
When stopped for a half-way break at a skate boarding park for a play. When we arrived at Rumbug we got our luggage and went in the rec room with the Saint Kevin’s 5/6s were we were told the rules and that we were going to do 10 activities.
We had to do jobs too like clean up Judy (that’s what I did).at night we would stay up forever and eat lollies. My favourite activity was the “Scare Bear” when you were in a harness and got pulled up high and then drop like a giant swing “I really like it.”
On the last day we had to go back home I half wanted to stay and the other half wanted to go home. On the bus I saw fantastic sights of Rumbug like the greenies hills and the steep dusty road.
When we arrived I was glad to see my family.

2008 camp to Camp Rumbug was great fun!
We struggled up muddy hills, climbed on ropes and had a fantastic time canoeing. We had a lot of activities such as scare bear, titanic raft, environmental ropes and adventure ropes. I can’t decide which one was the best, they were all great!
The food was really tasty, but the bad thing was having to wash the dishes and do duty. The night- walk was cool, we saw spiders and tracks that animals had made, and when we got back to the intersection we toasted marshmallows on the campfire they were warm and tasted really good!
We all loved camp and were rally sad to go. I can’t wait to go to camp next year!-By Natalie Cott.

At last the day has arrived for Rum-Bug. I’m so excited l am about to explode. I just loaded the bus with my bag. I sat with all my friends to Rum-Bug we talked, laughed, took some pictures and had some lollies. When l looked out the window we had arrived.

When we first arrived we were first arrived camp we were told to get our bags put them in the corridor and go into the rec room. When l first went into the rec room l was amazed by how many 5/6 students were at camp. Matt a man who told us all the rules and what time to go to bed.

After changing into my old clothes we headed off to the fitness test were we had to hold a girls hand and go through all obstacle courses in muddy conditions. It was amazing!!! After we all finished we were all told to go back to our cabins and change into some cleaner clothes. After getting changed we were ready for dinner we had vegetables and lamb, it was ok, but l think my mum would make it better. After we all finished we went to our cabins. We stayed up to 1:00 and had a lot of lollies. I felt sick.

In the morning we woke up and had rice bubbles for breakfast. We had a very big day ahead including eight activities to get through. My favourite activity was the scare bear because it was fun and really cool to be so high up and the feel of the breeze go through my face. When we finished we changed for dinner. We had corn, Broccoli and lasagne it didn’t taste so good. When we all finished we went into the rec room for the disco. The lights were amazing and l had a really fun time. After it all we went to bed.

When it hit morning we had breakfast and got our bags for the long way home.

CAMP WAS AMAZING!!!!!!

Ben

Camp was fantastic we had lots of fun with all the activities and getting wet and muddy. There was 10 activities Canoeing, jail break, scare bear, environmental ropes, adventure bridge, titanic raft, archery, adventure ropes, abseiling and drawbridge course. All of them were fantastic but my favourite activity was the scare bear because I faced my fear and I really enjoyed it.

On the first day we had to do this fun and fitness where you hold a girls hand all the way through the muddy and wet track. That night we had lamb roast and vegetables for dinner which wasn’t very good. Later that night we went on a night walk where we saw lots of animal tracks.

In our cabins that night we stayed up really late and ate stacks of lollies. The next day we had seven activities to do. And after we finished the activities we had dinner. For dinner we had lasagne and vegetables I which was DISGUSTING!!!! We also had a concert and a fantastic disco! Again that night we stayed up really late and ate heaps of lollies til we felt sick. On the last day we did 2 activities and then we had a sausage sizzle for lunch and got on the bus for the long ride home. Can’t wait til next year cave hill here I come!

Julian

On Wednesday we left to go to camp, I was so pumped I couldn’t wait my sister told me it is the best. It took about 2 and a half hours to get there we stopped half way for a play.

When we finally arrived we went to the rec room where we talk about the rules and activities. We had ten activities to do in three days. My favourite activity was the scare bear it is like a big swing, I like the scare bear the most because it is the most thrilling ride at camp.

The nights were the best because we went to bed late and ate lollies all night, plus the teachers got angry at us because we wouldn’t go to sleep.

The last day for lunch we had a sausage sizzle and after that we all packed or bags and went on the bus for another long drive. When I saw my mum at the school I got out of the bus and gave her a big hug, and then I got my bags and went home to get ready for soccer. That night I slept like a log.

And that is my camp Rumbug blog.

Adrian

On Wednesday 27th of August both grade 5/6 went to camp with St. Kevin’s. We finally reached camp after a 3 hours plus drive. Soon as we got there we had to go through the fun fitness trial. I was shocked because there was this HUGE mud pit. Thankfully we only had to go under one only. After that it was all easy going. We only had to do one activity which was absailing which I thought was easy. And that was it for the first day. I was happy about the second day because we did really fun activities e.g.: Canoeing, Jail break and much more. The food wasn’t the best but what can you do. The last day came we all were sad to leave but my last activities were CLEAN! We had a sausage sizzle lunch for the big journey home. And that was camp 2008

Camp Rumbug

On the 27th of August the 5/6s from our school went to camp Rumbug. The bus trip was boring but we saw lots of scenery.
As soon as we got there we pretty much started our first activity the Fun and Fitness coarse. We had to walk up steep hills and walk through a mud pit. It was so tiring. Afterwards we were all wet but it was worth it. Our first activity after this was Jail Break. It was really hard to get the last person through the tire.
Later we took a shower and got dressed for dinner. That night we went for a night walk and roasted marshmallows. Later on in our cabins we talked and ate lollies. The next day we did seven activities. I don’t think I have ever seen so many balancing ropes. Later in the day we did the scare bear. It was scary but fun.
That day after we got packed to go home. First though we had to do two more activities. The initiative coarse and Abseiling.
On our way home I was so tired. I had the best time.

Diary Entry
Wednesday 27th of August 2008
Today we arrived at camp Rumbug on a bus. I was really excited because our first activity was the, “Fun Fitness Trail” I had to hold hands with Michael Talia the whole way through this muddy course! After that my eczema got really bad so I went up to my cabin and got changed. I went back down to the activities and completed the Environmental Ropes Course. For dinner we had meat and vegetables and for dessert we had fruit salad and ice
cream!
Thursday 28th of August 2008
Today we got woken up by Mr.C at 7.00am! For breakfast we had bacon and eggs that weren’t that appealing! We had 8 activities to complete today starting off with the Scare Bear. I was last to go on the giant swing. I finally got harnessed up. The lady running it attached me to the huge rope and then my group started pulling me up. I was almost at the top when the lady pulled the rope and i was off!! Our next activity was Abseiling. The scariest part was climbing up the ladder to get to the top of the tower! Next up was the titanic raft. I found this quite boring and a little bit hard. Today we also completed Jail Break, Initiative Course, The Drawbridge Course and archery. For lunch we had Bread rolls with our choice of fillings. We had lasagne and vegetables that was disgusting. Tonight we had our concert and a disco. It was fantastic.
Friday 29th of August 2008
Today we had Pancakes for breakfast. We then went back to our cabins and packed our bags. We had 2 activities to do, starting off with canoeing and then the adventure ropes I didn’t enjoy either of them! We had a sausage sizzle for lunch. We then loaded the bus for the long journey home!

Abseiling
I’m harnessed up and ready to climb the ten metre ladder. I am extremely nervous and trying not to look down. I reach the top and realise that I have to do this. I feel a lot of pressure on me because the siren just went, so I have to do it quickly. I get up into the tower and I see a girl in tears. I am really terrified and freaking out but trying to hold a calm face. It’s time for me to go down the wall, I’ve finally realised that I can’t back out now! The lady fixes my harness and ties me to the rope. Then she says that she’s going to push me off the edge. I feel as if I am going to DIE! I can’t speak or move! I then slowly and steadily take my first step and another and another. Until I’m in a rhythm, I feel as if I’m dancing on a vertical slope, I start to look around at the scenery until I suddenly slip. My heart is beating wildly. I regain my footing and continue to walk down the tower. I’m nearly at the bottom. My fingers feel numb and I have a gigantic wedgie but it doesn’t matter I’m walking down a ten metre wall! I reach the bottom and plant my feet on the ground. I am shaking with joy and I realise I have faced my fear of heights!
