Hannah's Blog

It was the 27th of August and we were about to leave the school gates for the 2008 year 5/6 camp! Everyone was bursting with excitement and couldn’t stop talking and laughing with our friends. Finally half way through the trip we stopped at ‘Coo We Rup’ we ate our lunch and had time to play with our friends on the playground.
Finally we started heading for camp Rumbug once again. When we arrived everyone started cheering and couldn’t wait to get off the bus and into the cabins. I was in a cabin with, Tiana, Deanna, Natalie, Bella, Georgia. M, Kailah, Amanda, Pauline, Aisha, Nicola, Olivia, Gen and Samantha. C. We were in cabin 10. Eventually we settled in and made up our beds. When that was finished everyone went down to the fire bin and we had to do a fun and fitness trial which was filled with running up and down hills, going through pools of mud and all whilst holding a boys hand. It was horrifying! But at the same time it was fun because it was a new experience and I had never done anything like that before and I had never expected to do anything like it either.
It was so much fun and I can’t wait to go back again next year for Genazzano year 7 camp.

Camp Rumbug

27th, the first day:
When we hopped into the bus we all got ready for the next 1 ½ hour drive to Rumbug.
As soon as we got there, we saw a huge rainforest, and heaps of mud.
The first activity was the fun & fitness trial. You had to hold hands with a boy, and not let go for THE WHOLE THING. – Yuck!

28th The last dinner:
Dinner was the worst part of the day. I was partnered with a St. Kevin’s guy, who’s crazy. And on top of that, the lasagna was from a packet.

That night, us 16’s -our cabin- spent the night talking and eating. We had a marshmallow kebab, choc frogs and lollies. We also played would you rather and shadow animals ‘till 1:52!

29th the last day:
It wasn’t so bad on the day we left, at least I had fun. It was the best day I’d ever had so far.

I’d do it all again, but without the mud.

It was the first day of camp for the Grade 5/6’s at St. Charles Borromeo on Wednesday 27th of August. As the bus left, a rush of excitement ran through my body. Halfway through the trip, the bus stopped at ‘ Koo Wee Rup.’ At Koo Wee Rup we ate our lunch and got time to play and talk to our friends. Finally we got to camp Rumbug. Everyone was so excited and started taking their bags in. My friends and I were chosen to stay in Cabin 16. Luckily our Cabin was the closest to the toilets and showers. After everyone got settled and were ready to start an activity, we went and did the Fun and Fitness Trail. The Fun and Fitness Trail was full of mud. We had to hold a boy’s hand and run through this whole hill of mud, (I had to hold Aidan and this boy from St. Kevin’s hand! YUCK...) finally we had finished it and the terrible trail had ended, although it was disgusting it was funny.

Simeon.A.

Hi, my name is Simeon and I'm here to talk to you about what I did at Camp Rumbug. Firstly we had two and a half hour drive to Camp Rumbug. I have to say the view was FANTASTIC!!!
The cabins were much better than bigger than Cave Hill Creek. We probably had about 4 spare beds left over. My favourite activity we did at camp was the night walk, adventure ropes and the environmental ropes.
On the Night Walk it was very creepy. Our guide said we might see some animals like possums and deer if we be quiet. WE also saw their tracks with our torches but unfortunately we didn't see any animals. Next was the Adventure ropes. This was my favourite. It was the muddiest course......I think! While i wore gumboots, I watched my group suffer in the mud!! I didn't fall off for the whole course! The Environmental was an amazing course.Ofcourse it was all about NOT touching the ground. It was ALL about ropes. Mr Car was going to time me but we ran out of time.
I can't wait until I go to Marcellin College because on the first week, we get to go to camp to make friends quicker.
CAMP WAS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Camp Rumbug

On Wednesday the 27th of August we left for camp. Down the track we stopped for morning tea, at a park and there was a skate park. We stayed for half an hour.

Then we took off and over the hills we went through some towns then there was a sign Camp Rumbug. “We are here!” we all said.

After we all got out of the bus we had to unloaded the luggage in the hall way, then we had to go in the rec room for instructions and our room number. Our room number was 1. We got straight into our activities, my favourite activity was the Scare Bear that was on the second day. I was 5th person to go on it. For dinner we had corn and roast and for desert we had ice-cream. That night we had a disco and we stayed up to nine o’ clock. Then we had to go to bed. We stayed most of the night and ate lollies and talked until 2:40 am. In the morning we had two activities left. After those two activities we had to go to the rec room to know where our bags had to be placed so they could be loaded onto the bus.

Then it was time to leave, I was so sad, I had really enjoyed this place. When we got back to school I ran straight to my mum and gave her a BIG HUG. After about ten minutes we left the school car park and went home.

Tiana :P

On the 27th of august 2008 grade 5/6 from st.charles and St.kevins
Went on a bus to camp Rumbug. This is my snapshot of my favourite activity, the “Scare bear”... ENJOY!

As they started to heave me up to the top of the Scare Bear I could feel my nerves come into action.

When I got to the top, I looked around and saw as far as my eyes could see, (I even thought I could see my house!) then they started to count down 3, O MY GOSH GET ME OF THIS 2, IF I DIE TELL MY BROTHER I STOLE HIS TORTCH, 1 NO!!!........ As the lady let go of the rope I could feel the breeze in my hair (at least that was for two seconds) then I thought I was going to go SPLAT on the floor! I started screaming so loud that I thought I cause the tsunami warnings. The 1st swing was the scariest. As I glided to a stop I looked up and thought to myself “wow, I did that?”

When I stepped down of the ladder I felt really proud of myself and was glad to have my two feet planted safely on the ground.

On the 17th of august year 5/6 when to camp rumbug. It was a 2hour drive. I was excited to come to camp rumbug because i could spend some time with my friends and without our parents. When we got there we had our lunch then we went to set up our sleeping bags. After that we went to our activities. My first activity was the scare bear. When we came back to the building we had our dinner then we went out to roast some marshmallows. On the second day we had 8activitys. Then we had a disco later on the night. We went to to bed at 11:30PM every night and got up 7:30am so we only got 8hours sleep every night. My favourite activity was the scare bear I didn’t want to go on but everyone in my group convinced me to do it so I got harnessed up and I went up all the way. She counted down from 3 2 1 i was going realy fast up and down on the big swing. when i got off it i felt like i was stilll swinging on it. My last activity was archery

Michael

The Scare Bear was one of the greatest experiences of my life.

When I was getting on the Scare Bear I wasn’t really scared but when I was getting raised up to the top I started to get a bit nervous.

When I had seen other people on the giant swing it didn’t look as scary but when I got on it ,it made my heart start pumping more than I thought it would.

As soon as I was up on the scare bear I could see far away. Suddenly everyone shouted 3! 2! 1!

I dropped. It was frightening the first half a second but when you started swinging it wasn’t that scary.

When I got off I wished I could do it again but unfortunately I couldn’t. (That was one of the most frightening experiences of my life).

On the 17th of august grade 5/6s went to camp Rumbug it was a 2 hour drive. I was excited going to camp because it is my first school camp. When we got there we all got a list of our cabin names and we set up our beds. We all wore our dirty cloth to start our events. First event was fun fitness trial were you have to hold a girls hand and run a long course. My second one was environmental ropes were you have to do a rope course and u have a helper to try not let you fall. After that day we all woke up at 7:30 am then we got ready for our next event we had 4 of them archery scare bear abseiling and then we all went for a night walk. We all had to spot numbers hidden in the bushes. After that we all got a stick and 2 marshmallows and we all fired them. At night we all went in the wreck room and we put on casual cloth then went to do acts after that we had a choice of going to bed or staying in the disco at 10pm if finished and we all got a cup of Milo and cake then we went to sleep. Then we got up at 7:30 and we all got breakfast we had pancakes with syrup then we did the last activities. At midday we were all outside and we had hotdogs and icy poles we all gathered at this place and we all sang the camp song. Then we packed up our luggage and left it took 2 hours going back. The end

I was harnessed up and excited, highly-strung and stunned at the height of the abseiling tower. I asked the man “Has anyone fallen off the tower before?” He said no one had fallen off the tower in 20 odd years. I knew I was in good hands. I had heard people had fallen off but were ok after what happened

Before it came to abseiling we were doing another activity close by to the abseiling on the last day. For lunch we had hot dogs. Then we had left over cake and icy-poles, I had a red icy-pole. YUMMY!!

I could hear people saying to me do a little jump so I did. When I had finished I felt absolutely great I had an adrenalin rush. My turn was over I had to look and support the other people doing the abseiling. The feeling of doing abseiling was electrifying!!!

Camp Rumbug was fun for me and all my mates. It was the best fun. There was lots of mud there! When we were on the bus I saw lots of great views. The drive was tiring and boring. There was a small building where we slept and ate. In the small building’s entrance there were the toilets and shoe racks then down the corridor were our bunks and through to the big meals room hall then a games room past that. My cabin number was 9 I was with all my friends, we stayed up late. We did lots of fun activities at Rumbug like giant swings and canoeing and there was lots of mud, it was great fun. My favorite activities were the scare bear, the giant swing, and canoeing which was fun. I was canoeing with Jamie, we were playing canoeing tiggie in the canoes. We also did a fitness course holding a girls hand, yuck! It had lots of mud, I got soaked! The food was nice; we even had pancakes on the last day for breakfast. We also had lasagna my favorite! On the first night we did a night walk with our torches, we also cooked marshmallows, yummy! I met lots of new friends and met new people. I think camp Rumbug is the best ever! I can’t wait until next year!

On the 27th of August the 5/6's went to Camp Rumbug.
As we drove up the long, dusty road to camp my emotions went crazy! I felt excited, nervous and a bit anxious. I had no idea what activities they had in store for us.
As soon as we got off the bus we were straight into activities. The first one was the 'Fun and Fitness' course. Each girl was partnered up with a boy and had to hold hands while doing obstacles. At one of the obstacles there was a sand pit, but instead of it filled with sand it was filled with.......MUD!! You had to walk through it and also crawl under planks. It was DISGUSTING!!!!!!
The food at camp was okay.
I had so much fun talking to all of my friends in our cabin at night. I don't think I've eaten so many lollies in one night EVER!!
My favourite activity was the Scare Bear. It was both the most fun thing I've ever done and the scariest. Canoeing was also fun. Emily and I went together. We both kept screaming whenever the canoe would wobble.
Camp this year was so enjoyable and unforgettable (even though I got sooooo muddy) I defianatly want to go again.

My Camp Experience!

I decide to go last for a reason and it didn’t end up working so well…
My heart was beating 100 miles an hour while I was waiting to be harnessed up. I was ready to face my biggest fear of all: the King of Camp Rumbug… ‘The Scare Bear’. But something interrupted me… my bladder. My whole groups was towing me halfway and I felt like I was on the top of a cliff, but I decided to be courageous and go a little bit higher, a little bit higher still… then I called, “Stop!”

I was so scared, no wonder they named it the Scare Bear! I heard the countdown 3, 2, 1! I suddenly and I felt like I was an eagle soaring through the sky. But after that feeling was gone I screamed like I never have screamed before. Just like a little girl who just woke up from the most terrifying dream ever. But I was glad my bladder problem has gone away!
One of my greatest experiences at camp was the Scare Bear, you feel like you are an eagle soaring through the sky!

Day 1:
As the bus left the school for camp rumbug I felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness.

Part of the journey to rumbug was on Eastlink. We stopped to eat our play lunch at a park which had not only a playground but it had a skate park. Most of the journey was through the country side but we went through some small towns. When we got to the first sign that said camp rumbug we had to go down this twisty turnery road that just dropped off to one side at any random time, once the bus actually tilted to one side.

At the camp we unloaded the bags into the corridor and went down into the rec room were Matt called out our room groups and told us which room we were in, so we went and found our bags and put them in the our rooms. We went back into the rec room and we got put into our activity groups. Then we went down to the intersection in our activity groups and we were told to hold hands with a girl (or two) in your group and we started the fun and fitness trial!

First you had to go down to the bottom of the hill until you got to a big, slippery hill and you had to get to the top of that and then you crawl through two tunnels on your knees then you had to climb over a rope wall and cross a bridge, then holding your girls hand you ran down to the mud pit and you crawled through that on your stomach then you ran up a bigger and more slippery hill.

When we got back to the intersection we had morning tea and then we went onto our first activity. Mine was Drawbridge course, were you cross the river on nothing but 3 rafts and when you got to the other side you had to do an obstacle course.

After this we went back to the bunk rooms to have showers and change. At dinner we had to escort a girl to her seat and sit next to her for the whole time. For dinner we had roast lamb with gravy and vegetables.

Next we got ready to go on our night walk; we went down to the intersection and got split up into two groups: 1 went on the night walk and the other roasted marshmallows. I was roasting marshmallows first. They were gross. On the night walk we didn’t see any animals but we did see a spider and the tracks of animals looking for food.

When we got back we had super which was Milo with chocolate cake. The beds were comfortable, made a lot of noise when you moved around.

On Wednesday the 27th August the year 5/6s left for camp. We stopped at a skate park to have playlunch. As we came closer to our destination the scenery changed, it looked like a rainforest and the road became narrow. Camp Rumbug was smaller than I expected. We were welcomed by one of the leaders who told us what cabin we would be in I was in room number 16. My favourite activities were canoeing and the Scare Bear where you were hoisted up 15 meters in a harness and dropped to swing to and fro. We did a fun and fitness where we had to climb up muddy hills, go through, over and under obstacles it was soooo muddy! We also did a night walk, everything looked so different. We had a variety of meals including lamb, lasagna , jelly and ice-cream, bacon and eggs, sandwiches, fruit salad, pancakes and hotdogs .There were also duties - my group did clean up duty on the first night. There was also a concert and disco. They were great. On the way home we watched Evan Almighty. If I had to put my camp experience in to one word it would be AWSOME! I can’t wait to go on camp next year.

Camp Rumbug was a great experience. I had lots of fun there. It is in a type of a rainforest. You can see great views from there. We drove up a long, dusty road and there it was. It looked like a small school. When you walked in the main entrance there were shoe racks. We went through big doors and there was a long corridor with doors along the walls. They gave us our cabins and mine was number 16. It was really big and it had 14 beds in there. There were only twelve of us.I did a lot of fun activities at Rumbug. We did ten. My two favourite activities were the scare bear, which was a giant swing, and canoeing. In canoeing my partner was Olivia. We nearly fell out of the canoe into the water. It was really funny. We also did a fun and fitness course. The food at camp wasn’t the best but it was alright. On the first day we had roast lamb for dinner. Through the days we also had lasagna, pancakes and eggs. On the last night, after the night walk through the bush, we toasted marshmallows over a fire. They were really yummy.I met lots of new people and made lots of new friends. Some of the mew people I met were, Katelyn, Damien, Taylor, Chiara and Luca.Camp was a great experience and I can’t wait until next year at Camp Cavehill.

When i arrived at school on wednesday i was excited and nervous, i could see everyones luggage. After around 10-15 we had most of luggage on the bus ready to go there was a big bus and a small bus all the luggage went on the big bus. When we were leaving the school everyine was waving goodbye and then we were on our way to camp Rumbug. When we close to arriving we first had to go up a hill a big one, it was big, thin and bumpy. When we finally got there we had to take all the bags inside along the wall. The man had a talk to us and gave us instructions. We had to eat our lunch first. We then got our pillows went to our cabbins and got our beds set up. After that we started our very first activity. You have to were 3 layers of clothing so you dont get cold or sick. All the activities are really good, these are some of the activities: Archery, Scarebear, jailbreak, Abseilling and canoeing there all great fun and worth doing but my personal favourites would have to be Scarebear and Archery Scarebear is a massive swing that goes so fast you feel like your going to explode, Archery was great it took me a while to get use to it though. At night you do night activities with your torches and you get to cook marshmallows and eat them :). Everynight you get a ok dinner. And you always get supper milo and cake. The last night is the disco you and some friends have to make up an act and present it to everyone you practice at school. There is songs and dancing after all the acts it is great fun. Camp Rumbug was the best camp ever and i would like to do it again

Madison

Today is the first day of camp and I was so nervous. We were on the bus and moving. I was sitting next to my friend and we were talking to each other, then we stopped at a park to eat our playlunch. Everyone was playing on the skate park. Oh, time to go. We jumped on the bus and left.
This time we didn't stop we continued all the way. After a while we all saw a sign that said Camp Rumbug >. Everyone started cheering Yay and Whooho.
We took a long and dusty path that seemed to go on forever and ever.
Finally we made it. There were children everywhere. We had to unload the bus and get inside.
We were all told to head to the rec room so we could get our cabin rooms. Yay! Once that was done we got changed and went outside
We did a very muddy course first and then got into our groups. Then we did some mor activites and then had lunch
The food was nice. I liked it. Especially the Breakfast and Lunch. The lasgna wasn't very nice.
Camp was the best experience I've ever had. I really enjoyed it.

I was really nervous about coming to camp. I had heard that it was alot muddier and dirtier than cave-hill creek, which was the camp we went to last year. The bus trip took a really long time, we stopped at a playground/Skate park to have our play-lunch. We stayed there for a while but then left and arrived at camp around fifteen minutes later! A guy called matt welcomed us to camp Rumbug and he showed us to our cabins. I was whith Matt.C, Aidan, Simeon,Ben, Joel, Julian, Shane and Adrian. My favourite activity was the scare bear because it was really fun and scary, but you get used to it after the 1st or 2nd swing. Abseiling was my second favourite task, it was REALLY SCARY. The food at camp Rumbug was really good! We had lamb and Lasagne, along whith alot of other food for dessert. The messiest activitiy was the Fun and Fitness trail. Night-time in our cabin was SO fun, but we didn't get much sleep. I thought camp came and went really quickly, because the next thing we knew we were on the bus heading for home. We arrived home in around 2 hours.

Samantha C

Hi my name is Samantha C and I am here to talk about my experience at camp rumbug.

On wednesday the 27th of august, grade 5/6 went to camp rumbug. As we set off on the busride not knowing what was in stall, I was smiling with excitment. When we arrived at camp Rumbug after the long bus ride they told us we were to get into the first activity. I was shocked when they said that because we had just gotten off the bus. We arrived at the first activity and Matt told us that we were to be partnered up with a boy. I partnerd up with matthew and we were first to set off onto the course, also know as the " Mud pit". It was gross. There was also a pool of wet mud with planks of wood on top of it. We had to go under those planks. My front was covered in stinky, disgusting mud. My shoes were caramel brown. It was mess. One of the best activities though.

My favourite activity was the scarebear. Why? because of a giant swing, but better. I felt so scared before hand but when i started swinging I was just haviong fun.

I think camp was the most fun I've had in ages.

If I could go back in time to the moment we left for camp I would. Camp was not like last year because there were more survival activities than cave hill. This year I have experienced more than I did at cave hill creek. At Rumbug we got wet and we got muddy which was really fun but really annoying at the same time. I would have to say my favourite activities were the scare bear and conoeing. Camp might not be the holiday you are looking for but it is still worth it because you can still have fun. The hardest part about camp was probably getting to sleep, because everyone was so exited about all the activities the next day, that they couldn't get to sleep. We had many activities to complete and by the end everyone was exhausted. Friday morning was frantic everyone was running around gathering all of their belongings to pack, but finally we were packed and on the bus after our final two activities.

Camp Rumbug

When we got to to camp I couldn't wait to go in the cabins. My first activity was the Drawbridge course I fell off the wood and I got soaked. At night I had so many lollies that I felt sick. My favourite activity was the Scare Bear. When I was in the air I felt terrified but I finally did it.

In the canoeing I almost fell off the boat. We had a ball in the water to throw. Archery was the easiest. I almost got it in the red but it was very hard to control the bow and the stick. On the last day in the morning, the pancakes were very nice so I had seconds.

For lunch we had hot dogs. They were yummy. After lunch we had a piece of cake and an icy pole. On the way back in the bus we watched a movie called Evan Almighty.

I loved camp. It was a great experience.

If I could put camp Rumbug into one word I would have to say it was awesome. Camp was one of the best experiences I have ever had. When we started our first activity, everyone was in it together. It was called the fun and fitness trial. The girls were partnered with the boys. It was SO muddy. When we started our group activities my group was on the adventure bridge ,it was also really muddy. We went back, had a shower then had dinner and we went to bed. The next morning we had breakfast and got ready for our activities for the day. We had seven activities that day, but my favourites were the scare bear and abseiling. They were the best. We went for lunch and kept going on with our other activities. When we finished all the activities we had showers, then dinner and went to bed. The next morning my cabin woke up a bit earlier so we could pack to go home. We had breakfast then got ready for our final two activities. After that we had lunch, then started to pack the bus to go home. We loaded the bus and set off for home.

Alexander At Camp!!

We were arrivng at camp and i was feeling exited to what awaited me. I Started to feel a little home sick but then relieved from not getting called 1,000 times for fixing things. the first activity we did was the fun and fitness trail where we had to get down and dirty. I Found this activity annoying, tiring and a little fun but not fun, fun. For the next 2 and a half days we did rotations of diffrent activitys. The 1st actual activity we did archery. i found it ok and also funny. Someone got the arrow on a plastic roof. i did really bad the arrow was like 5mm infront of me hahaha. We did 1 more activity which i cant think of but i was soo afraid of the scarebear (i know what a scardy your probably thinking...) and abseiling i thought i was going to be sick if i went on it. The 2nd day we had bacon & eggs or just some jam spreads then off we went to the initiatives course which i found annoying and freaky. The 1st stage WE HAD TO STAND ON A GUYS BACK!!! and getting carried out without touching the wood or the ropes. which would be really hard to do. Before the siren went we went up to the wall which someone else and I didnt feel comfortable doing because one we were afraid and two the siren went. Then dinner we had lamb roast (WHICH WAS FULL OF FAT!!!!) but what choice did i have. The last day we did the last 3 activitys: Drawbridge course, Titanic Raft and canoeing. The Drawbridge course i found hard to cross because I FELL IN and got half drenched and i was humiliated but eventually i passed it. The next activity Titanic raft i found a bit boring because it took FOREVER TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RELAY!!!!. The Last Activity we did was canoeing which i was looking forward to all camp. I Found It Fun and intresting becuase i have never been canoeing before and i wanted to go on as soon as i heard about it. While canoeing there was a game of canoe tiggy with a yellow ball but we got tug like once and also we had a few crashes but it wasnt as bad. Soon as the siren went for the last time we had to pack up but i felt seasick. The last lunch we had at rumbug we had a sausage sizzle (finally something that didnt taste prosessed) and also we had icypoles. Then we had to pack up for the long journey home. The one thing i will miss about rumbug is the canoeing, hanging our with friends and feeling freeand i was looking forward to coming home seeing my parents and brother but theres one thing i wont miss.... wanna take a guess?.... WALKING!!!!!!!! I Wish i could come back to rumbug and canoe again! ^_^

Normally people don’t call me a daredevil and I don’t consider myself one either but this is something only a daredevil would do.....
I have just decided to go abseiling. I know I’m crazy but I will be proud of myself when I’m done!
I’m just climbing the ladder. My legs are shaking and I’m about to change my mind and go back down but I’m nearly at the top. As the lady unhooks me I get a little bit calmer. I’m just sitting in the chair and I start to feel really really nervous again.
Now it’s my turn! The lady is just hooking me to the main rope and now she’s pushing me. Why is she pushing me back? Oh my, its 15 metres high and I have to walk backwards down here! “Someone help me!” are the thoughts in my head! As I walk down my hand has just slipped!
Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhh! BANG! I’ve just fallen about one whole metre and then bashed into the wall. It hurts a lot! The lady is giving me some more instructions and now I’m getting the hang of it. It’s much easier now! As I step on the floor I feel really relieved and happy and I also feel really proud.
I still don’t consider myself a daredevil but that’s only something a daredevil would do!
That’s my story about when I went abseiling!
The camps sounding area! As we drove up the long dusty and wavy road, I look to the side of the bus and see so much beautiful trees that almost form a rain forest and there are so many hills and cliffs’ and when we reach our destination and unload the bus I take a first look at the camp site and take in the camps looks. When we walk inside we go to the rec room. I have a cabin for 14 people. I don’t think any of the food was that good. And basically we had a really cool and fun time!!!
The end!!!!

On Wednesday the 27th of august, grade 5/6 went to camp Rumbug. As we waited for the buses to arrive, we decided what bus we should go on. Of course we chose the small bus. It was a long trip and when we arrived I was too tired to stand. We carried are bags and placed them in the hallway. I wasn’t that scared or nervous, but really excited to do the activities. It was now about 10 minutes later from when we arrived. We were put into groups, i was in group 1! We were taken out to the woods and before we started the activity we had to do a course, while holding hands with a BOY!!!!
After the course was over I could hardly walk. Nearly covered in mud from head to toe. I struggled to walk up the hill, and when I got up there i quickly had a shower. There were two people from camp Rumbug that showed us where all the activities would be held Gav and Peter. Next thing we had to do was the drawbridge course, right now your thinking “Oh that sounds easy” well, YOU’RE WRONG. It was pretty fun but so difficult, some of my team mates fell in the lake. After that day my shoes were covered in mud and dirty water, and my socks were discoloured. That night i couldn’t wait to sleep.
The next few days we did many activities both hard and easy. Also very, very, very muddy. We did things such as the scare bear, archery, abseiling, canoeing, titanic rafts, initiative course, ropes course and that’s it. I like the scare bear because it was awesome! We also had a disco and a camp act where Me, Samantha, Nicola and Olivia danced to 4 minutes. It was the last day and again we went home on the small bus and when we arrived we were all very very tired.

On Wednesday we were going on a bus drive to camp. I was really excited but worried at the same time. I saw my mum and dad waving at me.
When stopped for a half-way break at a skate boarding park for a play. When we arrived at Rumbug we got our luggage and went in the rec room with the Saint Kevin’s 5/6s were we were told the rules and that we were going to do 10 activities.
We had to do jobs too like clean up Judy (that’s what I did).at night we would stay up forever and eat lollies. My favourite activity was the “Scare Bear” when you were in a harness and got pulled up high and then drop like a giant swing “I really like it.”
On the last day we had to go back home I half wanted to stay and the other half wanted to go home. On the bus I saw fantastic sights of Rumbug like the greenies hills and the steep dusty road.
When we arrived I was glad to see my family.

2008 camp to Camp Rumbug was great fun!
We struggled up muddy hills, climbed on ropes and had a fantastic time canoeing. We had a lot of activities such as scare bear, titanic raft, environmental ropes and adventure ropes. I can’t decide which one was the best, they were all great!
The food was really tasty, but the bad thing was having to wash the dishes and do duty. The night- walk was cool, we saw spiders and tracks that animals had made, and when we got back to the intersection we toasted marshmallows on the campfire they were warm and tasted really good!
We all loved camp and were rally sad to go. I can’t wait to go to camp next year!-By Natalie Cott.

At last the day has arrived for Rum-Bug. I’m so excited l am about to explode. I just loaded the bus with my bag. I sat with all my friends to Rum-Bug we talked, laughed, took some pictures and had some lollies. When l looked out the window we had arrived.

When we first arrived we were first arrived camp we were told to get our bags put them in the corridor and go into the rec room. When l first went into the rec room l was amazed by how many 5/6 students were at camp. Matt a man who told us all the rules and what time to go to bed.

After changing into my old clothes we headed off to the fitness test were we had to hold a girls hand and go through all obstacle courses in muddy conditions. It was amazing!!! After we all finished we were all told to go back to our cabins and change into some cleaner clothes. After getting changed we were ready for dinner we had vegetables and lamb, it was ok, but l think my mum would make it better. After we all finished we went to our cabins. We stayed up to 1:00 and had a lot of lollies. I felt sick.

In the morning we woke up and had rice bubbles for breakfast. We had a very big day ahead including eight activities to get through. My favourite activity was the scare bear because it was fun and really cool to be so high up and the feel of the breeze go through my face. When we finished we changed for dinner. We had corn, Broccoli and lasagne it didn’t taste so good. When we all finished we went into the rec room for the disco. The lights were amazing and l had a really fun time. After it all we went to bed.

When it hit morning we had breakfast and got our bags for the long way home.

CAMP WAS AMAZING!!!!!!

Ben

Camp was fantastic we had lots of fun with all the activities and getting wet and muddy. There was 10 activities Canoeing, jail break, scare bear, environmental ropes, adventure bridge, titanic raft, archery, adventure ropes, abseiling and drawbridge course. All of them were fantastic but my favourite activity was the scare bear because I faced my fear and I really enjoyed it.

On the first day we had to do this fun and fitness where you hold a girls hand all the way through the muddy and wet track. That night we had lamb roast and vegetables for dinner which wasn’t very good. Later that night we went on a night walk where we saw lots of animal tracks.

In our cabins that night we stayed up really late and ate stacks of lollies. The next day we had seven activities to do. And after we finished the activities we had dinner. For dinner we had lasagne and vegetables I which was DISGUSTING!!!! We also had a concert and a fantastic disco! Again that night we stayed up really late and ate heaps of lollies til we felt sick. On the last day we did 2 activities and then we had a sausage sizzle for lunch and got on the bus for the long ride home. Can’t wait til next year cave hill here I come!

Julian

On Wednesday we left to go to camp, I was so pumped I couldn’t wait my sister told me it is the best. It took about 2 and a half hours to get there we stopped half way for a play.

When we finally arrived we went to the rec room where we talk about the rules and activities. We had ten activities to do in three days. My favourite activity was the scare bear it is like a big swing, I like the scare bear the most because it is the most thrilling ride at camp.

The nights were the best because we went to bed late and ate lollies all night, plus the teachers got angry at us because we wouldn’t go to sleep.

The last day for lunch we had a sausage sizzle and after that we all packed or bags and went on the bus for another long drive. When I saw my mum at the school I got out of the bus and gave her a big hug, and then I got my bags and went home to get ready for soccer. That night I slept like a log.

And that is my camp Rumbug blog.

On Wednesday 27th of August both grade 5/6 went to camp with St. Kevin’s. We finally reached camp after a 3 hours plus drive. Soon as we got there we had to go through the fun fitness trial. I was shocked because there was this HUGE mud pit. Thankfully we only had to go under one only. After that it was all easy going. We only had to do one activity which was absailing which I thought was easy. And that was it for the first day. I was happy about the second day because we did really fun activities e.g.: Canoeing, Jail break and much more. The food wasn’t the best but what can you do. The last day came we all were sad to leave but my last activities were CLEAN! We had a sausage sizzle lunch for the big journey home. And that was camp 2008

Camp Rumbug

On the 27th of August the 5/6s from our school went to camp Rumbug. The bus trip was boring but we saw lots of scenery.
As soon as we got there we pretty much started our first activity the Fun and Fitness coarse. We had to walk up steep hills and walk through a mud pit. It was so tiring. Afterwards we were all wet but it was worth it. Our first activity after this was Jail Break. It was really hard to get the last person through the tire.
Later we took a shower and got dressed for dinner. That night we went for a night walk and roasted marshmallows. Later on in our cabins we talked and ate lollies. The next day we did seven activities. I don’t think I have ever seen so many balancing ropes. Later in the day we did the scare bear. It was scary but fun.
That day after we got packed to go home. First though we had to do two more activities. The initiative coarse and Abseiling.
On our way home I was so tired. I had the best time.

Diary Entry
Wednesday 27th of August 2008
Today we arrived at camp Rumbug on a bus. I was really excited because our first activity was the, “Fun Fitness Trail” I had to hold hands with Michael Talia the whole way through this muddy course! After that my eczema got really bad so I went up to my cabin and got changed. I went back down to the activities and completed the Environmental Ropes Course. For dinner we had meat and vegetables and for dessert we had fruit salad and ice
cream!
Thursday 28th of August 2008
Today we got woken up by Mr.C at 7.00am! For breakfast we had bacon and eggs that weren’t that appealing! We had 8 activities to complete today starting off with the Scare Bear. I was last to go on the giant swing. I finally got harnessed up. The lady running it attached me to the huge rope and then my group started pulling me up. I was almost at the top when the lady pulled the rope and i was off!! Our next activity was Abseiling. The scariest part was climbing up the ladder to get to the top of the tower! Next up was the titanic raft. I found this quite boring and a little bit hard. Today we also completed Jail Break, Initiative Course, The Drawbridge Course and archery. For lunch we had Bread rolls with our choice of fillings. We had lasagne and vegetables that was disgusting. Tonight we had our concert and a disco. It was fantastic.
Friday 29th of August 2008
Today we had Pancakes for breakfast. We then went back to our cabins and packed our bags. We had 2 activities to do, starting off with canoeing and then the adventure ropes I didn’t enjoy either of them! We had a sausage sizzle for lunch. We then loaded the bus for the long journey home!

Abseiling
I’m harnessed up and ready to climb the ten metre ladder. I am extremely nervous and trying not to look down. I reach the top and realise that I have to do this. I feel a lot of pressure on me because the siren just went, so I have to do it quickly. I get up into the tower and I see a girl in tears. I am really terrified and freaking out but trying to hold a calm face. It’s time for me to go down the wall, I’ve finally realised that I can’t back out now! The lady fixes my harness and ties me to the rope. Then she says that she’s going to push me off the edge. I feel as if I am going to DIE! I can’t speak or move! I then slowly and steadily take my first step and another and another. Until I’m in a rhythm, I feel as if I’m dancing on a vertical slope, I start to look around at the scenery until I suddenly slip. My heart is beating wildly. I regain my footing and continue to walk down the tower. I’m nearly at the bottom. My fingers feel numb and I have a gigantic wedgie but it doesn’t matter I’m walking down a ten metre wall! I reach the bottom and plant my feet on the ground. I am shaking with joy and I realise I have faced my fear of heights!
